Oil Pulling

1Ancient method
People swish coconut oil in their mouth for dental hygiene, with apparently 95% positive results. Olive oil can also be used, but coconut oil seems the safer options in terms of teeth whitening and anti-bacterial effectiveness. Sesame oil has also been used traditionally. As can be seen in the studies above, coconut oil kills Streptococcus mutans, likely other pathogenic bacteria, while leaving good bacteria in place - in contrast to Chlorhexidine and othe ralcohol-based mouthwashes.
Negativity and one potential danger
Most certainly negative dis- and misinformation is being spread about oil pulling, with tons of authority-inclined people (who haven't tried it) angrily dismissing it. Examples:
- Reddit comment by a "General Dentist": "Both coconut oil and tea tree oil are acidic [NOTE: they are NOT: they're neutral.] so definitely not beneficial to oral health. Clever advertising drawing people in to make money."
- Reddit comment: "Why aren't you asking your dentist instead of thinking about crazy things like oil pulling?? They are doctors after all. The American Dental Association does NOT recommend oil pulling. No benefits are found. [NOTE: a lie.] Swishing oil in your mouth for up to 20 minutes every day sounds gross and a waste of time. Nausea and diarrhea are possibilities as a side effect. [NOTE: yet not a single comment can be found mentioning this.] Check with professionals, not people on Reddit."
- Another argument is that some people can inhale the oil, leading to oil pneumonia.
Studies
Despite this negativity surrounding oil pulling, there are actual studies proving its effectiveness.
Reported dental benefits by practitioners
with the reported benefits by users including:
- Mouth feels much cleaner, even after just 2 minutes.
- Improves or takes away bad breath.
- Clears up tooth sensitivity.
- Makes the teeth a little whiter, and possibly over time a lot whiter.
- Removes plaque, the yellow staining on teeth.
- Softens dental calculus / tartar - the hardened plague - and even makes it fall off after weeks or months.
- Clears up gingivitis / periodontal disease / gum disease, including severe major gum infections, often quite fast too.
- Clears up teeth abscesses: painful pockets of pus caused by a bacterial infection.
- Reverses teeth loosening due to infections.
- Allows the body to heal cavities.
Reported systemic benefits by practitioners
Less often reported.
- Pulls mucus up from the throat.
- Pulls mucus down from the nose and sinus area.
- Some say other chronic issues in the body were cured, suspecting it is due to a removal of oral infections.
- Pollen allergy cured.
- Reduce dark circles.
- Reduced snorring.
- Improves voice.
- Removed the left-over mouth smell of cancer, after a cancer operation.
- Cleared up their acne or general skin.
It appears brushing your teeth with coconut oil and then swishing it around for another minute also has great benefits.
This author has noticed how salt water - based on simple table salt - in a waterpik in seconds destroys the biofilms of bad mouth bacteria, so maybe it's not surprising that a person getting some of the best oil pulling results mixed his oil with salt. This author has also used this combination to crush ear infections: the salt kills the infection while the coconut oil mildly helps along while soothing the skin.
List of 200+ raw experiences
Raw user experiences:
- Reddit comment: "After about a month of doing it, i had a huge chunk of plaque just fall off. I know its not a miracle cure all, but my teeth are whiter, breath is better, mouth less dry and after seeing that plaque chunk just crumble away I'm sold."
- YouTube comment: "Definitely helps loosen tarter. It comes off easy when flossing."
- YouTube comment: "Honestly this oil pulling is amazing!!!! Every time I have plaque build up my gums go sore and I always go for the coconut oil pulling and within two weeks gum sensitivity is gone and plaque actually starts chipping off."
- YouTube comment: " I started oil pulling and within 2 weeks, a big piece of plaque came off my tooth. I thought it was a piece of tooth and my dentist was amazed! I know it works!"
- Reddit comment: "Oil pulling tends to soften any hardened calculus if I've been neglecting my mouth for long enough to get there. So I've been in the habit of keeping a mouthful before and during a shower. After I brush and floss like normal."
- YouTube comment: "I did it for 30 days (as a test) and my teeth got SIGNIFICANTLY whiter (cigarettes, coffee and chai), calculus broke off and clean breath."
- Reddit comment: "I had a loose tooth and started oil pulling for 20 minutes twice a day and my tooth stopped being loose and my gums no longer bleed when I floss."
- Reddit comment: "Tried [oil pulling] with my ex when he had a nasty infected tooth and couldn’t get into the dentist for a few days. It helped immensely. Basically it helps all the bacteria and such bind to the oil and leave your mouth. But it does have to be done for at least 10-15 minutes."
- Reddit comment: "I have terrible teeth. Beyond saving, like I mean I cry all night in pain holding my face and I only have front teeth to chew with. I'm only 30 years old, and otherwise healthy. I've always brushed and flossed, ate healthy. After I had children they got bad and I didn't have the money to fix them. Medicaid only pays to pull ones having issues, and I did that (a few a year because it only gives $900 a year for emergency extractions). So I only have a few left. So, when I tried oil pulling there was no delusion that it'd give me a miracle, because you can't fix teeth that were pulled because you had a cavity. One day food got lodged in my front gums, because I have to awkwardly chew in the front. It got so dark red and infected, and receded all the way down to the roots (on one tooth). It's still like that, but not infected and not as bad. Oil pulling did what salt water swishing couldn't, what chlorhexidine, colloidal silver, manuka honey, alcohol etc. wasn't doing at all. It actually helped. My gums were pink again with 3 days, the pain was gone after 3 days too. Within 2 weeks my gum started puffing back out (it had sunken in badly). I'm about a month in and it's so much better."
- Reddit comment: "I'm here to +1 the very low incidence of gingivitis. I had early stages of gingivitis. Went in to the dentist. They recommended I do a painful, special deep clean. I oil pulled for 3 months and my numbers were better (where they test the attachment of the gums to the teeth) I've been oil pulling for the past 5 years since and no more gum bleeding and issues. When I lax on oiling pulling, like going on vacation and letting a couple of weeks pass, I've noticed some bleeding returns, but getting back on the oil pulling helps every time."
- Reddit comment: "I have had a few infections recently, causing come major inflammation and pain. The kind where your going crazy looking for a dentist asap. I thew a table spoon of coconut oil in my mouth. Just scooped it right out of the jar. I melted this while swishing it all around for 25 minutes while watching TV. Spit it out, then brushed my teeth. Followed that with 50/50 water and peroxide. Sorry, this was before bed. I woke with zero pain zero inflammation. Too good to be true? Ya, I thought so, but no. The inflammation stayed away for a month and came back, so I repeated the above exactly. Guess what same results. Next morning, all gone. I'm shocked to have those results immediately. I hope this helps someone suffering. Dental pain is no joke. ... Did I mention that it can losen plaque? Repeated use of course..."
- Reddit comment: "I didn't believe oil pulling until a month ago my sister forced me to try the oil pulling product she got. I swished for only 2 minutes because my mouth got tired. Then I flossed and brushed my teeth as usual. The next day my morning breath was gone and my mouth felt fresher the whole day. I used to use mouthwash every night after I brushed my teeth but now I just do oil pulling and then floss and brush."
- Reddit comment: "You don't need to use coconut oil. Traditionally sesame oil was used. I use that. It does the same thing. My teeth come out white and if they are painful I oil pull for a few days and the pain is gone."
- Reddit comment: "I've been doing it three times a week for two weeks now and I've definitely noticed that my teeth are whiter/brighter. (I use coconut oil.) They feel so clean, it's a total confidence booster, and now I'm not afraid to rock some bold lipgloss/lipstains!"
- Reddit comment: "If you're only after whitening your teeth, you can just drip some coconut oil (I use olive oil for this) on a cotton towel and rub your teeth with it. Just shine those pearlies right up."
- Reddit comment: "I’ve only done it for two days but i’ve noticed my morning breath has already improved greatly."
- Reddit comment: "I've been oil pulling for more than six months now, mostly 4-5 days a week, in the evening, and it definitely helps with bad breath in the morning. I have an issue with this, as in I sleep with my mouth open since I've known myself, which is bad for health, and anyway the taste in the morning was really not pleasant. Using coconut oil made a huge improvement."
- Reddit comment: "Personally, it is helping me with bad breath. I changed nothing else for my dental routine."
- Reddit comment: "I disagree about [it not pulling out] the toxins. It's definitely helped me when dealing with the effects of mycotoxicosis."
- Reddit comment: "Day 1 - Oil pulled once. My teeth are already whiter and shinier than before. Looking forward to keeping this up. Looks promising. (There was some swelling in the gums around the teeth in the back and the swelling had subsided completely when I checked in on it after an hour. It worked within an hour! I was happy with the results.)
Day 2 - Brushed once. Oil pulled once. Teeth and gums look really great. Teeth look brighter and glossier. Happy with the results so far. " - Reddit comment: "I noticed slightly whiter teeth and that my gums seemed tighter to my teeth (i.e. reduced inflamation)."
- Reddit comment: "From the first day I started oil pulling 2 years ago my sensitivite teeth stopped and never came back. Another positive is my facial skin is so much clearer, seems to keep my face moisturized."
- Reddit comment: "Coconut [oil]. I'm black and have naturally purple gums (as many black people do). Oil pulling daily turned my gums pink. [No] I didn't expect it, so I didn't take pics. I didn't even know it was possible."
- Reddit comment: "My dentist had never heard of oil pulling, but was surprised when he saw my mouth after I started oil pulling. No more gingivitis. His hygienist had always accused me of not flossing even though I have always flossed and brushed regularly. When the hygienist saw my mouth after I began oil pulling, she remarked that it was obvious I'd started using an electric toothbrush. I told her I hadn't, that I'd been oil pulling. Neither one of them had heard of it. My dentist said, "That's weird. Keep doing it." ... I didn’t know the gingivitis was gone until I went to the dentist for my 6 month checkup. So I don’t remember how long it took."
- Reddit comment: "People are too dense to listen to anecdotes, but it's been life-changing for me [swishing with Coconut Oil]. The best thing you can do for your teeth."
- Reddit comment: "Ive been pulling in the AM with the gurunanda and i have like zero morning breath. my teeth feel so clean after I pull and thru the day. i occasionally will use mouth wash in PM."
- Reddit comment: "Been oil pulling several times a week for a few months. i did not see many whitening effects but im also addicted to tea and drink around 6 cups a day. i did swear i could've seen effects in the first week when i was doing it every day but it's such a time consuming thing it's hard to commit to sometimes. that said YES to cleaning and it's why I still do it. It really helps my gums out. They don't bleed anymore when i floss because of it and i don't floss as much as I should. In general my teeth stayed clean longer after oil pulling and then brushing vs just brushing. It's nice to do it on a day when I just feel grimy because it just really gets my mouth clean. just doing it twice a week still helps."
- Reddit comment: "My de real hygienist told me about a patient who did it and saved a tooth that was loose and going to fall out by doing it for a couple months. The dentist couldn’t believe it."
- Reddit comment: "Switching from the mouthwash to the oil pulling (I use nutiva virgin coconut oil, melt it down in the microwave) I've noticed a significant difference! Not only do my gums feel healthier and my mouth/breath feels and smells fresher, but I believe it's helped whiten my teeth as well, which I definitely didn't expect. The whitening isn't anything dramatic (like from yellow to pearly white) but certainly noticeable..."
- Reddit comment: "My Grandma has done it for years and has bright sparkly teeth even though she chugs coffee and tea multiple times a day and only brushes twice a day. I've done it for about a year now and it works for me too. You have to do it for atleast 5-10 minutes though. I used to do it for 20mins when I first started and my jaws were chiseled."
- Reddit comment: "I just did it for 5 minutes and it noticeably removed a bit of plaque build up around my gums. I used coconut oil."
- Reddit comment: "I oil pull about 1-2 times a week and I feel like my mouth is cleaner afterwards (along with flossing, tongue scrapping and brushing with an electric toothbrush). My gum line also feels cleaner and fresh! After oil pulling I had my first dental cleaning without bad news..."
- Reddit comment: "Doing it for almost a week now and it shrunk an abcess and whitened teeth. I oil pull, brush and use and oil based peroxide mouth wash. Not sure how it works but something does."
- Reddit comment: "I oil pull during my entire shower time daily. It has helped my gums for sure."
- Reddit comment: "My dry mouth and plaque buildup has improved significantly since adding this in. Also adding a drop or 2 of peppermint oil makes the taste a non-issue for me."
- Reddit comment: "I have been doing coconut oil pulling daily for 2 years! I can honestly say that i rarely get dry mouth anymore. I also feel like I always have fresh breath. When I skip the oil for a few days I can tell that my mouth doesn't feel as clean and i find myself reaching for mouthwash in the middle of the day. Sometimes I only swish it around for 5 minutes or less, so just a few minutes for me makes a big difference."
- Reddit comment: "I have been doing oil pulling for 4-5 years, was recommended by my dentist as the #1 thing for long-term gum health. Now my teeth are super white (people think I get them whitened) and most important - healthy!"
- Reddit comment: "Oil pulling completely cured my tooth sensitivity. I had a few teeth that were very sensitive, and a month or so of oil pulling removed the issue. It came back at some point, so I started oil pulling again. Its now been over a year (haven't kept up with the oil pulling though I know I should) and it hasn't come back."
- Reddit comment: "I do oil pulling for a year now. I use coconut oil. My teeth are more white - to the point that I get comments on it. And more importantly, my gums are better. Like, visibly better."
- Reddit comment: "A dentist had told me that at the age of 37 my teeth are that of a 55-60 year old. I started having all kinds of teeth and gum related issues with pain, swelling, blood etc. I knew that was just the beginning and if I don't take any extreme steps I'll be in deep shit financially coz dental treatments cost a bomb and are never ending and physically coz the pain is horrible even affecting your head and ultimately your ability to stay productive at work.
After researching about oral hygiene that our ancestors used to follow (just 125 years back and beyond) I realised how powerful the oil pulling and salt combination is [Coconut oil/Himalayan pink salt]. Also, I wanted a solution which doesn't take much of my time in preparation. I've been following this routine for more than 2 years now and the results are nothing short of a miracle. I've quit using a toothbrush and toothpaste since then.
All my dental issues are solved for good but the most shocking transformation that I've noticed is about a tooth which had completely flattened out with exposed dentin (the yellow portion of the tooth beneath the enamel) which has actually grown back!!! Am completely shocked as to how is that possible since teeth and enamel doesn't grow back in adulthood." - Reddit comment: "Regarding the color it doesn’t make a difference in the short run, but over the years it certainly does. I used to feel really uncomfortable with the color of my teeth right before my annual cleaning. Now they still look normal when the time comes. I wish I had started earlier with oil pulling!"
- Reddit comment: "You don’t have to swish if you don’t want to. You can just use more oil and hold it in your mouth. It does work. It purifies all parts of the mouth and cleans the sinuses. It conditions your mouth and sinus membranes and it whitens your teeth. ... Sorry to be gross, but it pulls the phlegm down from my nasal cavity. Cough cough…. Hawk tuh. It’s amazing for clearing sinuses."
- Reddit comment: "I do oil pulling and definitely notice my teeth are less stained after. It is not a dramatic difference but I do notice a subtle difference."
- Reddit comment: "Me too, I wouldn't call it teeth whitening though, it's just cleaning the bit of build up plaque which I think it's what makes them look whiter."
- Reddit comment: "I oil pull with coconut oil three or four times a week. I can't say I've seen any difference in my skin... What I have seen a difference in is the cleanliness of my mouth and the health of my gums. If nothing else it does make your mouth really clean. I like to do it first thing in the morning before I drink any water or anything, and then I follow up by brushing my teeth and scraping my tongue. It's not some kind of miracle like some people claim, but it absolutely does make your mouth cleaner than brushing your teeth alone. I also personally think it freshens your breath a lot better than regular old mouth wash, because it doesn't cause dry mouth like the alcohol in mouthwash can."
- Reddit comment: "I'm the first one to ask for scientific proof and I don't typically listen to the "no really, you have to try it!" people...but this time I took a baby sip of the ~kool aid~ coconut oil. ... First off, I do not believe you need to swish for 20 minutes to see an effect. The first time I tried it, I immediately gagged horribly and had to spit it out. ... You really do get used to it, though. I tried it again the next day and was able to swish it for a minute or two. When I brushed my teeth afterward, I was able to get the "super clean, like you just left the dentist" feeling (which is because it loosens gunk up on your teeth and makes it easier to remove when you brush.)
The weirdest part for me was the suction effect that occurred while swishing (a good weird, but still weird.) I don't know how or why this happened and I cannot begin to scientifically explain what caused this...but it happened. I had read about it on a random blog that talked about the benefits of coconut oil, but I didn't really know what it meant (suction effect? how can that work when I'll be breathing from my nose so any "suction" from my mouth to my throat would be broken?) All I know is that when I swished, I truly could feel stuff (mucus/spit? NOT food!) that was hanging out in my throat come back into my mouth. It's really weird. I don't know how to explain it. It was not painful at all, though. And it's the step in the process where I though the bacteria/toxins were extracted from me (if any were actually extracted.)
After you've been swishing for a few minutes the coconut oil will become diluted from spit and other gunk. I didn't time myself but instead spit it out when it got to be fairly thin (probably in the 5-10 minute range.) ...
I do not remember the lightning fast results that the blog post mentioned. After a couple weeks my teeth were slightly whiter (NOT blinding you from across the room, like the blog makes it seem) and I had some very slight gum regrowth. I have suffered from bad breath for most of my life and really did ~see~ smell a difference after a couple weeks, too." - Reddit comment: "I LOVE oil pulling. I've been doing it every day for about two months and I have noticed a complete difference. It leaves my mouth feeling super clean, my teeth are whiter and it curbs my hunger (a certain plus for me!). I also have noticed my acne completely disappear. Not sure if it's linked or because of my other daily routine, but no complaints here."
- Reddit comment: "don’t knock it till you try it, literally googling oil pulling loosened phlegm after experiencing it this morning lmao."
- Reddit comment: "Yes. I worked as a dental assistant for many (too many) years. Hands down, the most beautiful, clean, paper white teeth I've ever seen was a woman who pulled coconut oil for 30 mins a day, sometime twice... I had never heard of it, and honestly, I was in disbelief... then, not now! She didn't even NEED her teeth cleaned. There was no plaque, nothing! Obviously, she probably had some gentitic goodies and no pre-existing dental issues. I do it sometimes, but 30 min seems like forever, even if it is like teeth magic."
- Reddit comment: "What I liked about it was how effective it was at removing particles from between my teeth, a very effective mouthwash."
- Reddit comment: "Last year when I went in for my dental check-up, the dentist told me I had gingivitis. ... Then this past March I was diagnosed with periodontitis, which is worse. ... I couldn't figure it out--I was brushing/flossing regularly, trying to cover every tooth & inch of my mouth. Maybe it's my age (60). I was told I'd have to come in every 3 months for treatment. I have decent dental insurance but it didn't cover everything & the treatment was going to cost me $300 every time I went in. I was furious. What more could I do?
Then someone mentioned oil pulling to me. I had never heard of it before. I always have coconut oil around the house & figured I had nothing to lose. It couldn't hurt & might help. Every morning after brushing I'd plop a Tbs. of the stuff in my mouth & swish it around for 15 minutes, then spit it out in the trash can. Within 2 weeks I started to notice that my gums weren't bleeding as much; they looked better & my teeth looked whiter. I was also making sure I was really brushing--not scrubbing--the bottom of my teeth at the gumline. Then I read an article that said oil pulling was a waste of time because it's equal to swishing toothpaste around in your mouth; brushing your teeth with [the oil] is more effective, so I started do that instead. After brushing I'd swish the oil around in my mouth for about a minute before spitting it out.
Last week was the moment of truth I had been waiting for: the cleaning for my periodontitis. Would my dentist notice the difference? Would the numbers be high this time? Did the oil pulling really help me? It sure did! Hardly any bleeding or tenderness, the numbers ranged from 2-4, with a couple of 5's. No 6's or 7's. I wasn't going to tell my dentist what I had been doing unless she asked--and she didn't. I do the oil brushing every evening after do my brushing/flossing. ... I only wish I knew about oil pulling years ago." - Reddit comment: "In my experience it's very effective. I only do it once a week or every 10 days or so, and only for a minute or two. I have always had an impeccable brushing and flossing routine, but it was only after I added the occasional oil pulling that the hygienist started telling me there was "so little to clean.""
- Reddit comment: "Yep. I started doing it when I had a cavity that was giving me trouble that I couldn't afford to fix. It helped sooth the issue so ive been doing it semi regularily since."
- Reddit comment: "I don't do it that often but it's worth it for me. I floss but it does seem to make the mouth cleaner (because you're not getting all angles with flossing.) I had a friend who couldn't get into to see a dentist quickly for an abscess and she said oil pulling helped her enough with the pain that she could sleep and wait it out. When I do it regularly my morning breath isn't nearly as bad, by a significant amount. But it's kind of a whole thing to get rid of the oil not down the pipes."
- Reddit comment: "It works SO well. I did oil pulling everyday for 20 minutes for about 2 weeks straight, and the results were insane. I was shocked by results, but eventually stopped doing it and went back to waking up with that nasty mucusy feeling in my mouth.
I recently started oil pulling again, about 2 days ago and I finally no longer woke up with that gross morning breath and that yuck feeling in my mouth. My mouth health feels so much cleaner and healthier and I stand by it!" - YouTube comment: "I had tooth decay and receeding gums so bad you could see the roots of my teeth. After doing this for 1 week my gums had drastically improved and tooth pain gone."
- YouTube comment: "Ive been doing it for 20 years. Reversed receding gums. I went to the dentist a couple of weeks ago, after not going for 15 years, and no plaque."
- YouTube comment: "My story: I was suffering from sensitivity/gum disease for 6 long years, and finally decided to try oil pulling using coconut oil. To be honest, first 3 weeks I didn't get any results and I lost all hopes and about to give up!! Since I bought a expensive coconut oil bottle and decided to finish it, that's when miracle happened. Trust me, after 2 months I am not at all experiencing sensitivity or any gum issues."
- YouTube comment: "I healed my gums doing this. My gums were swollen down over my teeth, and 2 dentists said they weren't sure why. I started doing this, and salt water rinse, and my gums look amazing. It is so sad how so many dentists say it doesn't work..."
- YouTube comment: "For all you Smokers out there with receding Gums, This Does work Hey I saved my Teeth and Will not need the denchers my dentist started preparing for me. ... Hope I give up smoking eventually."
- YouTube comment: "This works! In 2016, I had severe gum issues. My jaw felt as though it was almost wired shut, I could barely open my mouth to speak. I oil pulled with coconut oil ( I don't remember the particular brand) once/twice daily for about a week. I thought oil pulling wouldn't be able to help and I almost gave up because the pain persisted. Then out of nowhere within that time I was able to speak and eat normally."
- YouTube comment: "I've been oil pulling for about a month now and Ive seen amazing results! My gums are less red and I dont wake up with morning breath anymore!!"
- YouTube comment: "I've been doing this for about 40+ years now and it works great!! It also pulls from your sinuses and will help clear up allergies and infections. But, afterwards I swish with salt water...not just plain water. Not sure it makes a difference, but it does get the oil out of the mouth to floss and brush like normal."
- YouTube comment: "Brushing my teeth with coconut oil has healed my tooth🤟🏻 my Dentist couldn’t believe it.. and I just started oil pulling."
- YouTube comment: "Hi everyone, it's absolutely working for me..I'm using this method for 3weeks now, I had gum disease..my gums are improving and also white spots that I had on my teeth are disappearing. Also had a tooth infection due to a root canal, my tooth broke and I got severe infection that cleared up aswell."
- YouTube comment: "My mouth feels incredibly clean! My teeth have actually gone whiter by a lot. ... Works incredible well alongside a tongue scraper."
- YouTube comment: "I tried every oral health product imaginable, but none stopped the minor bleeding gums. 2 weeks of oil pulling nearly every day and my gums weird healthy, and my teeth very white. Best method for oral health cleaning I have tried with actual results."
- YouTube comment (olive oil): "Yoo im not even kidding i tried oil pulling with olive oil for a minute and my tooth pain is gone. God bless!"
- YouTube comment (olive oil): "It really works. I do olive oil pulling for over half a year. And it literally saved me from my tooth pain."
- YouTube comment: "Tried this for 20 minutes after experiencing pain between two back molars for the last couple of days. About 30 minutes after, no more pain! I do brush my teeth religiously two times a day but tend to skip the flossing which is probably the root cause. I split the oil out in a clear glass and you could see the plaque material at the bottom."
- YouTube comment: " As a person that had to get deep cleaning, had signs of gum disease and highly sensitive teeth, this WORKS. I dont do it every day cuz it will dry your mouth out. It had reversed all of my oral issues."
- YouTube comment: "This actually works so good! My receding gums around 4 of my teeth is healing!!! And sensitivity is become less!! Some black spots that I thought were cavities, r gone!! I'm so happy to have discovered this oil pulling with coconut oil! 20 min morning and night!!"
- YouTube comment: "I was in massive pain frm last 2 days due to a severe tooth ache on my left side. I tried pain killers to some over the counter remedy but of no avail. I was howling in pain when I just happened to see the oil pulling method on google and ur video. I tried it for 20 minutes as mentioned. And I was feeling far far better. ... This method came as a tremendous relief."
- YouTube comment: "I use organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and puncture a capsule of oregano oil and add that to the mix. My gums have gone from REALLY BAD (dark red and tons of blood when brushing and flossing) to EXCEPTIONAL (light pink and no more bleeding). This took only about a week to pull off, and now it's just maintenance. Oil pulling has upgraded my dental care routine in a huge way, because it helps keep me on top of the morning and night brushing. I also soak my brush heads in isopropyl alcohol to make sure they're not holding any bacteria."
- YouTube comment: "Pulling coconut oil is fixing my receded gums. The main thing I use to measure is I have a bottom front tooth that has it's root showing. It's my worst tooth as far as gum recession. The root section is almost halfway closed up from where it was 3 weeks ago. I think it'll be completely healed within a couple months. I also feel I should add within that time I've stopped smoking, drinking, and eating junk food. Before that I was on a relatively healthy diet aside from eating sweets. My diet is now mainly vegetables and fruits, maybe meat 2-3 times a week, very rarely do I eat grains, no sweets. I'm sure those factors help as well but the oil pulling is the star of the show."
- YouTube comment: "This also had help me a lot ! My teeth no longer bleeds since I do the Coconut Oil Pulling ! And no longer hurts when I eat too cold or too hot meals ... This is now my daily rhythms the same way as brushing our teeth daily ..."
- YouTube comment: " I did it for about a year now. I do not know yet its effect to my whole body, but what really amazed me is that my sinutisis is really gone. It is very effective."
- YouTube comment: "I had the worst tooth ache where I could even eat solid foods anymore, even lentil soup would be uncomfortable. I started oil pulling with clove oil and within a few days the pain was GONE! I will continue doing this for the next couple of weeks."
- YouTube comment: "I've had sharp tooth pains in my left jaw and it felt like an infection was coming up. Took a spoonful of coconut oil with 2 drops of pure wild oregano oil and swished it around for 10 minutes. Done that for the past 3 days and all the sharp pains are gone and my teeth feels stronger! Amazing stuff."
- YouTube comment: "Swishing coconut oil is the only thing that drowned out the pain of an erupting wisdom tooth. Beats throwing back pain killers. Truly a miracle!"
- YouTube comment: "This might sound weird to some but my cystic acne got so much better after i did this for a year. After first two weeks, i saw significant reduction in redness and after a month, sizes of my acne shrank. To be clear, it never got rid of acne but it was helpful in keeping them under controp. Fyi i used sesame seed oil right after i wake up without any intake of food lr water and "gargled" for 20 min."
- YouTube comment: "I swear this works i started doing this for 3 weeks and most my cavities are gone"
- YouTube comment: "I am on day 9 of oil pulling and I'm already seeing some results. My teeth don't bleed as much when I floss and I no longer have morning breath. I also use coconut oil. Thanks for the video"
- YouTube comment: "It really work ... all the black spot are gone and my teeth is whiter than before."
- YouTube comment: "I'm quite convinced that this is very effective. Since I was a little long in the tooth, tried the Oil Pulling. My gums started to heal and one of my front teeth started to grow: A small very white extension on one side of the tooth. Imagine that."
- YouTube comment: "I have started this method 6 months ago. It was hard the first few weeks, I could barely do it for 5 minutes but it got better and now I can do it for 30 minutes. What I notice is that my theet are whiter,my gums stronger and I don't know if it is a rare occurrence but it clean up the mucus a lot."
- YouTube comment: "I’ve had a wicked flu, this had halped immediately."
- YouTube comment: "I do oil treatment after I brush, after I rinse, then oil, then rinse. the reason is many toothpaste are actually not beneficial for gum regrowth. as you get older gums recede, part of that is do to toothpaste and residual, and not all toothpaste is created equal. There is research on this online, even ratings against each other for damage to gums over time."
- YouTube comment: "One other thing - I had an intense ear ache one day. No money for the doc; and he'll just give me an antibiotic anyway. So I oil pulled, as your mouth is close to your ear. I also ate tons of garlic that day (had no where to go that day, thank goodness!) Some Advil too, and voila, ear ache gone in 6 hours - I think it pulled out the bacteria in the area."
- YouTube comment: "I've been (coconut) oil pulling and have had great results. I just added lavender essential oil this morning for my gums. I don't understand why our dentists don't suggest this. My teeth are super white now and feel healthy in spite of drinking pu erh tea all day every day.. haha!"
- YouTube comment: "I don’t know if this is a coincidence but I started doing oil pulling with coconut oil 2-3 times per day just for my dental health. At the time I had been having chronic low level stiffness and soreness in my lower back and neck every day. Once I started oil pulling I noticed that the back and neck soreness were gone and my range of motion was increased. Could be related because dental decay can cause inflammation in the rest of the body."
- YouTube comment: "This is the best I ever tried for my gum infection it doesn't almost bleed anymore. Try it you won't be disappointed!"
- YouTube comment: "Hello. I have been oil pulling for two weeks now and it reduced my stress level. Even people around me notice the difference. No other variable change, just oil pulling. Any idea about the mechanism behind this stress relief?"
- YouTube comment: "It's reducing my blood pressure. Maybe it cleans out the blood vessels."
- YouTube comment: "I'm doing this with coconut oil, and I've got hic-ups. That and the fact that I don't like coconut is making it hard to stop it from spilling everywhere lol. Edit - My tooth was hurting after I started doing this but not after 12 minutes it's not as bad... cool."
- YouTube comment: "I add in turmeric powder, baking soda and oregano oil with the coconut oil. This is from another video I saw where a mom healed her kid's cavities with this mixture except she used thieves oil instead of oregano oil."
- YouTube comment: "I had a wisdom tooth that had a dull ache for a year, I thought I would have to eventually get it pulled. I don't know if it was my tooth or my gums causing the pain but it felt like my tooth. I tried oil pulling one night for 30 minutes and the pain went away immediately. It's been a year and the pain never came back. I used unrefined organic virgin coconut oil. Every night before I go to bed I brush my teeth with a floride free tooth paste, use a waterpik for about ten minutes, floss my teeth and then I do the oil pulling. Then I brush again. You wouldn't believe all the food that the waterpik gets out of my teeth even though I already brushed."
- YouTube comment: "I once scraped a chunk of tartar off my teeth and put it in a shotglass of cooking oil. Two days later the chunk of tartar was soft and fell apart from touching it lightly."
- YouTube comment: "Make sure you're using regenerative essential oils like clove, peppermint, rosemary. A good blend is called Orawellness on Amazon. I healed lots of cavaties from it."
- YouTube comment: "For almost two weeks I suffered with severe pain and took heavy dose pain killers, while I was waiting to see an endodontist. Doc said I have to spend $2000 for root canal and crowns.
Then I followed these home remedies for 1 month:
1) Clove oil n Garlic mix before dinner- put directly on the tooth. Bite it n hold for 15min. Spit it out and rinse with regular water. Do NOT brush/rinse with any chemicals/acidic. Then I ate dinner. By the time I finished dinner the smell faded out. It worked for me.
2) Coconut oil pulling every day morning. If you have severe cold/cough don’t do oil pulling. Also don’t do Choirs/workout while oil pulling. It’s very important that you stay focused and relaxed. There are studies that small oil particles end up in lungs. So don’t contribute to that theory.
3) Apple cider vinegar rinse- after breakfast, lunch or snack or munch. I’ll Never use chemicals like Listerine again.
4) Floss twice a day - morning n night.
5) tooth brush “gently” twice a day with very very little toothpaste.
6) Charcoal n Salt mix ever Alternate day - slowly rub on the gums. This is also a very good idea as it effectively reduces acid levels and prevents enamel corrosion. It also helps as tooth whitener.
It worked and I promised myself I’ll never sleep without flossing. I’ll always rinse my mouth every-time I eat or drink." - YouTube comment: "I had toothache and used oil and salt to brush to clean. Saw a major difference. Also got rid of plaque."
- YouTube comment: "Been oil pulling for a few months, dental hygienist said I must really take care of my teeth, very little plaque, I didn’t tell her my trick."
- YouTube comment: "Correct! When I do this regularly, it heals my inflamed gums due to recession, Whitens teeth, and has stopped a cavity in its tracks. Consistency is key."
- YouTube comment: "It also really works for canker sores, scrapes of the mouth etc."
- YouTube comment: "I was a hygienist and one of my patients did oil pulling. Couldn’t believe how spotless her mouth was."
- YouTube comment: " It absolutely works... I've been oil pulling off and on for 15+ years and i have experienced and seen miracles for others. I had periodontitis, was supposed to get deep cleanings 3×/year for the rest of my life. I started oil pulling every day and a few months later at my next cleaning they were stunned to see I had no signs of it at all, eventually they said I didn't need to come back anymore and all the people at my dentist's office began oil pulling too! It never came back after that even after i stopped.
A few years later I realized my dental implant was being rejected and had an infection, I started oil pulling again 2x/day and returned to the dentist 2 months later, they x-rayed it and saw that it had healed and the bone had grown back! The dentist was stunned 🤗.
I actually discovered oil pulling when I had a horrible headache from a sinus infection, after 15 minutes of oil pulling my nose started running and massive amounts of mucous ran from my nose for a good 15 minutes...as if draining a bathtub. After that the pressure was gone and felt 1000x better. What it does is create a suction deep in the roots of the teeth drawing out bacteria, often the roots of our teeth preforate the sinus cavity so it can help with sinuses, allergies and such." - YouTube comment: "Yesterday I visited my Dentist. Three months prior to this appointment I had a "Roasting" about the amount of tartar in my mouth, even though I brush daily. I watched your videos re: Oil Pulling. I have been doing this daily since watching your video. Yesterday I was complemented on the small amount of tartar in my mouth. It [only] was in the deep crevices of back teeth."
- YouTube comment: "I’ve used coconut oil for daily brushing years now, rather than actual oil pulling….I was getting similar results…fresher breath,no more cavities, breakdown of plaque especially noticeable in the bottom front inside teeth. It was like soft sand easily removed with floss. Even dental hygienist says, oh that wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, because I didn’t see a dentist through Covid for 21/2 yrs!"
- YouTube comment: "I fixed a badly infected wisdom tooth with oil pulling. Dentist asked me what I did and I told him, he was surprised but said I can't recommend it, you should of come and got antibiotics and had it removed. He's very nice man but they are programmed. I asked does it look like I need any antibiotics now....he said No!! Problem solved then isn't it😄"
- YouTube comment: "I been oil pulling for a week now, and the result is amazing! I was a smoker for 15 years and since I stopped smoking I noticed that my gums is always bleeding whenever I'll brush my teeth so everyday I have bleeding gums, but after 3 days of oil pulling, to my surprise my gums doesn't bleed that much and after the 5th day the bleeding stop when I brush my teeth, and I noticed that my gums become more pinkish, used be kinda black/reddish coz I guess from the nicotine."
- YouTube comment: "Oil pulling worked great when I had a tooth infection. I did it three times a day and it was healed by the fourth day. No more tooth ache."
- YouTube comment: "A few years ago I healed my loose teeth and bleeding gums with oil pulling."
- YouTube comment: "I started oil pulling 8 or 9 years ago. Every morning. 3-4 months later I went to my yearly exam and cleaning. I said nothing when the hygienist asked me if there were changes to my oral health, bla bla. She was both impressed and puzzled to see such a noticeable improvement in my gum health. Inflammation was way down, as well as the receding. I then told her about the oil pulling and she seemed genuinely impressed but when the dentist came in, she mentioned the oil pulling and the only reaction from the dentist was rolling his eyes."
- YouTube comment: "I started oil pulling 9 years ago for my teeth, but I noticed my face was clear and much smoother. So, I also started using coconut oil extra virgin oil, cold pressed and unrefined on my face before washing it with face wash and rinsing with cold water to moisturize my face. I'm 54 and have no wrinkles and a smooth complexion. Plus, I use coconut oil on my feet."
- YouTube comment: "It works. I’v been pulling for 7 years after having serious gum issues and now I have beautiful gums."
- YouTube comment: "When comparing the before and after shots, I noticed your teeth looked more dense than before. I notice this too when I oil pull with sesame oil. I actually felt like the oil was oddly realigning my teeth and making them more straight (im not kidding!) Hopefully it can restore my enamel and help rid my mouth of cavities."
- YouTube comment: "I had an abscessed tooth on the weekend and could not get into a dentist. I oil pull, so, I decided to try it for an abscess. I oil pulled twice that day and by the next day, I had no more pain. I oil pulled again that day and no more abscess. Went to the dentist and he could not tell that tooth was bad. Oil pulling saves your teeth!"
- YouTube comment: "I have been oil pulling for more than 3 years now ....some of the newly formed cavities that I had are gone..."
- YouTube comment: "For about 6 months now, I’ve brush with a mix of coconut oil, clove, peppermint & neem oils, as well as activated charcoal, once I’m done brushing, I do the pulling. My gums are no longer inflamed, no tartar, no bad breath. And the receding gums at the front seem to be growing back. I’ll never stop doing this."
- YouTube comment: "I do it for ten minutes and a teaspoon not a tablespoon. I have seen amazing improvement - I started oil pulling because I had a tooth that was a problem (after going to a dentist) and it completely healed my tooth, just amazing. But I wouldn't do it for 20 mins, no way. Ten minutes is quite enough and I can do it everyday for ten minutes."
- YouTube comment: "I will share my experience. In August 2018 I developed a huge cancerous tumor on outside of a breast. It stunk to high heaven. I had a mastectomy later that year to remove it.....but my husband noticed I still reeked of that odor.....especially, (interestingly enough) my breath. He said the odor would fill the room. (yikes) I started oil pulling w/coconut oil. One day I did the oil pulling while my husband was outside w/our dog. When he came in, he noticed the room didn't have that odor. Over time, pulling w/coconut oil totally removed the odor. To my way of thinking, that means it pulled leftover toxins out of me. The odor never came back. The blood makes a complete circuit every minute. Blood vessels are very close to the surface under the tongue. I made sure some coconut oil sat there."
- YouTube comment: "I did the oil pulling, one teaspoon for 5 mins and I immediately saw results. My bleeding gum disappeared, some plaque removed from my teeth immediately. I will continue this technique. Thank you so very much!!"
- YouTube comment: "Oil pulling has critically saved my dental health!! My goodness was in pain to even sleep at night. Started oil pulling BOOM, back on point."
- YouTube comment: " I have been on oil pulling for a year and my dental surgeon was shocked to see the positive result on my teeth and oral health, no sign of any bleeding during the whole teeth cleaning process at all. Furthermore, my pollen allergy is cured naturally. What more can I ask for? Thanks for your video and, you have a charming voice. You should read audio book..."
- YouTube comment: "It is true after about 3 weeks of regular use, you can scrape the tartar off so easy."
- YouTube comment: "I had my sons oil pull for a month while waiting for cavities to be worked on. The dentist said they had no plaque or tartar on their teeth and the cavity hole was clean!"
- YouTube comment: "My gums hundred percent got healthier and I get much less inflammation. And I almost never have plaque and it makes me so happy 😭♥️ I love it!"
- YouTube comment: "Oil pulling works. I had toothache pain from a root canal it was infected and my jaw was very swollen. it took the pain and swelling away completely. and saved the tooth without even any work done on it. The tooth is fine still to this day."
- YouTube comment: "It works for me. I don't trust dentists anymore because of whatever type of chemicals they use in my mouth caused me more pain. But with using coconut oil as a mouth rinser on my own at home, my pain completely goes away. 😁"
- YouTube comment: "I had 3 cavities, one cavity was so bad I thought my tooth would fall apart. The first two were completely healed in 3 months the one really bad cavity took 6 months. It worked so good I wish I had x-rays of the teeth.."
- YouTube comment: "I have been oil pulling every day since September 2020. It works in many ways besides your teeth and gums it can also reduce dark circles under the eyes and make the skin brighter. ... Happens quite quickly [the removal of dark circles], we have lots of toxins in our bodies, oil pulling helps reduce those toxins."
- YouTube comment: "Major pain for days and nights for awhile is gone .... COMPLETELY GONE! Oil pulled daily for (3) times a day for about (2) weeks along with peppermint oil and homemade silver water = No dentist visits dumping good money into the overpaid overhyped dental community"
- YouTube comment: "Absolutely definitely 100% works. Despite using all range of oral products, I used to have sensitive teeth, inflamed and bleeding gums, not anymore since I started oil pulling. Not only are my gums healthy and strong, but I went from my head hitting the ceiling if my teeth touched anything too cold and discomfort from too hot, to no issues with eating an ice lolly or eating a straight from a hot oven. Also, other benefits is, I find it also clears impurities from the throat. Now this is unpleasant for others to clear; but for me, this is unavoidable but a good thing. I no longer have morning breath and my snoring has reduced significantly. You will understand why dentists wish this was still a secret!!!"
- YouTube comment: "I didn’t believe in it until I tried it. I went through some serious depression and didn’t brush my teeth for a few years. Yes I know it’s gross but I have crooked teeth and I felt like if they all fall out then maybe I can get dentures and I’ll have nice teeth and also I just didn’t feel worth brushing. Anyways I had a cavity in my front tooth, I could see a large hole in my front tooth at the gum line. I oil pulled for a few months and the hole went away and now I have no hole. I went to the dentist and I have no cavities at all and my gums and teeth are healthy. I didn’t brush for nearly 5 years."
- YouTube comment: "It works… my dental Hygienist said I have no plaque when I was having my teeth cleaned. This can put dentists out of business."
- YouTube comment: "I have two cavities and I applied coconut oil on the tiny cavity holes at night and the pain has gone away and the black specks are disappearing. I've been doing this for a week now so I definitely think it's helping. I do plan on going to a dentist but this is helping me in the meantime."
- YouTube comment: "I have oil pulled in the past but was kinda exhausted by swishing. So I took the coconut oil mixed with baking soda, activated charcoal, bentonite clay and essential oils of choice for a polishing paste. Have been doing this for 10 years. I always have these ingredients on hand and my oral hygiene and health are better than ever. No sensitivity no major plaque build up definitely no morning breath.😁"
- YouTube comment: "I started using oil pulling this week. My mouth used to be so dry. since I started doing this I’ve noticed a drastic change. It works." Comment to it: " I've read several comments that said the oil pulling caused their mouth to become dry, and yours is the first to say it actually reduced dryness. But nobody has said it makes existing dryness worse, so that is all very odd."
- YouTube comment: "I used to oil pull regularly for 20 min each morning. It definitely improved my mouth health, whitened my teeth a bit and oddly enough, it cured my dry mouth! Thank you for the reminder to get back to this practice."
- YouTube comment: "I've been oil pulling with organic virgin coconut oil for about 6 weeks. My teeth and gum sensitivity has greatly improved over that time. So, for me oil pulling has worked."
- YouTube comment: "Had a abcess on my gum from a craked tooth. Coconut unrifined oil for 20 min twice a day. Abcess was gone the next day. Miracle!!"
- YouTube comment: "It does work! I started brushing my teeth 🦷 using a combination of coconut oil, sea salt and baking soda, no more plaque buildup or nasty bad breath. My teeth have gotten whiter and the brown stains on my molars 🦷 have diminished drastically. I had deep cleaning and had to do this spread out in 3 different appointments, when I went the following week to get the other side of my teeth clean, the dental hygienist said, I can’t believe you have [tartar] build up again [on the cleaned-up side] and it’s only been a week. That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands and I have not seen any build up whatsoever. I am so happy I will continue to do this. I stop using toothpaste, doesn’t do much for you, except give you fresh of breath."
- YouTube comment: "I do this everytime I shower. Also if I start having an irritation it fixes it. I’ve gone through times when I couldn’t eat well and it affected my teeth to it was very painful. Do it multiple times a day and it cures abscesses rather quickly, white teeth and fresh breath. You can almost exclusively do this. Wait a half hour and rinse with salt water and lightly brush."
- YouTube comment: "A friend of mine told me that she had been doing oil pulling when I exclaimed that her voice sounded 20 years younger! She also stated that her phlegm that she got in her throat every morning was not happening anymore at all and that her little slight repeated cough throughout all the day was not there and she felt like her upper respiratory had been cleaned out. She is also a singer and it has improved her singing voice, it is much clearer and More Beautiful as well as stronger! So I'm going to try it."
- YouTube comment: "Been saying this for years..even went to dentist and didn't need cleanings..better breath ..gargled for 5 mins until the coconut oil became frothy..having my kids do it too."
- YouTube comment: "I had a really bad inflamed molar 5 years ago. I used coconut oil and a drop or 2 of tea tree oil, swooshed it in my mouth for the duration of my entire shower routine… the next day, 0 inflammation and soreness, it definitely worked for me."
- YouTube comment: "I just want to say, one other benefit I noticed was that my body on some days would actually just smell very sweet, it's like the saying goes, you are what you eat (don't swallow the oil tho lol). It didn't last all day or anything, but for a few hours at least."
- YouTube comment: "It definitely works, it helps your breath improve in a big way and my dentist asked what ive been doing as i dont have as much stains on my teeth as i used to. My mums receding gum lines were also improved in a big way with oil pulling, everyone must try it!"
- YouTube comment: "I had 3 cavities forming and started oil pulling with olive oil. That was in 2017 and swear by it to this day."
- YouTube comment: "I must agree with you that it removes plaque and freshens the breath. I usually do it at night and leave the oil on my teeth. I noticed that when I wake up in the mornings, I do not have any bad breath. It reduces the growth of bacteria for sure."
- YouTube comment: "Went to my dentist for a cleaning after a month of switching to baking soda, peroxide, then coconut oil brushing. Hygenist told me i had absolutely no inflamation in gums. Which was a first said. Told her i replaced tooth paste with the above."
- YouTube comment: "Coconut oil also kills fleas on my dogs and cats instantly. they seem to enjoy the massage too lol."
- YouTube comment: "I do notice a difference in my oral health when I pull regularly. ... My mouth feels cleaner and my gums are healing, but I wont get the full benefits of freshening my breath unless I give up the alcohol (which is tough for me, sorry to report)."

- YouTube comment: "I decided to try it Wednesday night and did it while in the shower 🚿 and I successfully completed 15 minutes and today 16 minutes slowly working my way to 20 minutes a day. But I noticed that my teeth seem whiter and my gums that gave me pain when eating certain foods have reduced I feel barely any pain now."
- YouTube comment: "My mom told me that a dentist once informed her that she had a gum issue that could cause all of her teeth to fall out within a year. The dentist attributed it to genetics and suggested it would be better to extract all of her teeth at that time. She declined and instead researched oil pulling. She has been doing it every day, and it's been four years now, and she still has a full set of teeth. I am doing oil pulling as I might have that genes too."
- YouTube comment: "I also do oil pulling with olive oil and gurgle the throat, so it works to reduce the cases of sore throat and it’s good for vocal cords as well. And according to some doctors gurgling (not necessarily with oil) stimulates nervus vagus- the nerve that goes through all the body and is responsible for a lot of reactions of parasympathetic nervous system. So it can be not just oil pulling but oil gurgling)."
- YouTube comment: "I did it for about 4 weeks and I had a cavity & it was completely gone."

- YouTube comment: "Coconut oil lightened up my skin tone. Spent months trying to convince people that my natural shade was always lighter but when I tan I get very dark and all I did was even up my skin tone."
- YouTube comment: "It works very well. However, I usually do it only once a week and I use mustard oil with turmeric, salt and powdered neem leaves instead of coconut oil, the way my folks in India taught me. Whenever I missed it for long and felt something amiss in my gums or teeth, I just returned back to this technique, and it saved me many trips to a dentist."
- YouTube comment: "I actually started doing this and I’m on day 3. I only did this because nothing worked to cure my bleeding gums and sensitive gums. I had a sore on my gum near my tooth (it ached so much I got a fever from it) and it kept bleeding. Was thinking of going to see the dentist but after seeing my husband get an emergency root canal and 10 canker sores under his tongue from the antibiotics prescribed, I thought to do this method before going to the dentist. So far, my mouth isn’t inflamed anymore and I don’t have a fever from the pain. It still bleeds a little (I mean it is a sore after all) but it definitely works for inflammation!! Only on day 3 and my gums are looking great and not feeling as sensitive as before! Will continue oil pulling to see if it will restore my gum line and enamel back!"
- YouTube comment: "I started pulling with coconut oil for an abscess and tooth ache. Works wonders. I also pull with saline solution."
- YouTube comment: "Yes it absolutely does.. I started using it because my tooth was hurting and I didn’t realize how infected it really was.. after about 4 days and pulling a few times a day I started to feel where the infection was going down and it was sore all the way to my orbital bone and soon was gone completely however I stop made a dentist appt and what surprised me was that I was telling the dentist what I’d done to help it and they had no clue what I was even talking about."
- YouTube comment: "It also improves inflammation elsewhere, such as arthritis (both hubby and me) and Fibromyalgia (me), reduced allergy symptoms (both), overall feeling of well-being, more energy, and it detoxes as well. We both felt less “toxic”. Systemic health begins in the mouth."
- YouTube comment: "Noticeable difference the way my mouth feels and the way my teeth look…I use to get bleeding gums and have sensitive teeth. ..not so much anymore!"
- YouTube comment: "When I first started oil pulling, I began to have really lucid dreams. My mouth felt better in general and my appetite decreased."
- YouTube comment: "I can totally believe you. I have a wide spectrum sleep eating disorder (sleep walking down the road with a chicken leg in my mouth lol) and oil pulling definately helped with the sleeping patterns."
- YouTube comment: "This may be a coincidence but since I have started oil pulling in addition to flossing and mouthwashing which I have already been doing, my sleep has been deeper and my dreams have been more vivid."
- YouTube comment: "Sabby- SAME HERE. Today is my 2nd day of oil pulling and last night I slept like a baby. The cavity the dentist said would get worse and worse, is now getting better and better. The root canal is $2500 including meds and 2 follow up visits. I will wait a couple weeks and then go for a second opinion from a different dentist."
- YouTube comment: "Had bad sciatica and it got 80% better after oil pulling for 3 months. Good for controlling allergies and sore throats as well."
- YouTube comment: "I used to not take very good care of my teeth and I have several crowns and missing teeth from having them pulled which has led to some gum recession and root sensitivity. I started oil pulling years ago sporadically and didn't know if it was making any difference. I picked it up again steadily this past year. I get infection flare ups and it absolutely helps to heal them and takes away pain within a day, between brushing, warm salt water rinses, then the coconut oil. My nightly routine is to brush, floss, mouthwash rinse then oil pulling for about 5 or 10 minutes. My gums are much lighter now, a healthier light pink instead of red and puffy. I use the coconut oil on my skin as well when I get dry skin or flare ups of rashes. It's a great way to moisturize your skin if you have pets too because it's food grade, non toxic to cats and dogs."
- YouTube comment: "Before I started oil pulling my teeth been in a terrible state. Wasn't at the dentist for the past 15 years. ... Now, since 1 year I'm doing this everyday. First improvement I could see was on my gums, after a week they stopped bleeding, the calculus was just falling off over time. I have a chipped tooth next to my wisdom tooth and since I do oil pulling I don't feel any pain there anymore, the root is still alive and nothing rots. The tooth is chipped for over 2 years now. To me the whitening effect was insane. I smoke and meanwhile I have whiter teeth than most people who dont even smoke. I can bite into ice-cream. My teeth became so much better than they have ever been. I recommend to clean the tongue too, get one that is made of copper. Would additionaly flush the mouth with saltwater 3 times a day. I brush my teeth once a day. Every 3 days I floss. I strongly recommend flourid free toothpaste and a soft toothbrush. You will never ever need a dentist again :)"
- YouTube comment: "It definitely works...i oil pulled for only 2 weeks and developed a massively painful, white, hard gum sore on lower inside of my molar. I was terrified after googling it that I had some rare jawbone disease or mouth cancer. I went to the dentist and he "pulled it" out of my gums. Turned out to be an old shard of wisdom tooth from almost 30 years ago!"
- YouTube comment: "I did it for over a month day and night. It helped with my toothache and made my teeth whiter. Eventually i had to get my tooth worked on but it held me over until i was able to. My whitened teeth was very noticeable."
- YouTube comment: "It has worked for me. I have a filling fall out and a cavity was exposed causing my gum area to slightly inflammation; gurgled with it a brushed it on my toothache and it took the pain away, and swelling went down. Honestly it seemed like it sealed the inflamed area."
- YouTube comment: "I add mint oil to the cocconut oil to l and it makes it minty...i have been doing it for 20 years and my teeth are healthy i also brush my teeth with the coconut and mint."
- YouTube comment: "It works!! I tried it because the dentist told me I needed a $3,000 dollar root canal...and was having other inflammation issues....so I tried it and guess what...it has been 3 years now and still, no root canal!!! The coconut oil seems to make your mouth healthier!!! I think it actually pulls out infections. I thought I was going to loose a tooth, but I did the oil pulling and in about a week, the soreness and inflammation was gone! No trip to the dentist!!!! YEAH!!!"
- YouTube comment: "Thx the gums on one of my teeth are receding idk why.. and I have cavity with a dentist appointment in a few months ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ I heard oil pulling works for it Edit: it wasn't a cavity it was stains I wasted the dentists time! Anyways my teeth are whiter and cleaner. When I got back from the dentist my mother asked If they polished my teeth (they didn't) and my tongue is pink now!"
- YouTube comment: "I reversed a cavity."
- YouTube comment: "I have oil pulled with coconut oil and now Use Coco oil to brush my cats teeth with. At 1 yo he had gingivitis and halitosis! It is so healthy for him to lick when I am done with the brushing. His redness at gum line is going away."

- YouTube comment: "This works, for couple of days i had a major tooth ache cause of covid i couldnt go dentist plus its super expensive so i tried it out and it literally healed my tooth like the pain is gone, i have done it for like 2 weeks so far i wouldnt say it removed my BIG cavity but its less visible in a way like less black... everyone should try it out cause some people can get result faster."
- YouTube comment: "Oil pull definitely does work. I had problems with 2 teeth so I started to oil pull for 20 minutes twice a day with coconut oil then rinsed with salt water, the results are staggering, just after 3 days of oil pulling I noticed outstanding results, it quickly solved my teeth problems."
- YouTube comment: "I’m prone to gingivitis and periodontist but after a month of oil pulling, flossing and using interdental brushes daily, I went to my hygienist and for the first time in 38 years my gums didn’t bleed! And she says my teeth is really well taken care of. That has never happened 😅"
- YouTube comment: "So I started oil pulling about a month ago. I began with extra virgin olive oil because I didn't have coconut. I noticed an immediate sinus clearing during the first time, after years of congestion. I could smell properly again. A couple of days later, I switched to coconut oil and also used roasted sesame oil a few times. After two weeks with the coconut oil, pulling once or twice a day, I switched back to olive oil for a week, just to compare. I noticed the olive oil felt more peppery in my mouth and inflamed my gums more. Also, it didn't seem to whiten my teeth like coconut oil did. My mouth feels much cleaner with the coconut oil than with the olive oil. And finally, with the coconut oil, an area of inflamed and receded gum had started to noticeably tighten up and change shape, feeling more flat and less puffed up, but these changes seemed to have arrested while using the olive oil. I switched back to coconut oil just today and noticed about 10 minutes in a foul kind of "seepage" coming out of my gums, similar to what had happened when I'd first begun pulling with coconut oil. After this reinstatement of the coconut oil, my mouth feels cleaner than it has in a week. So I conclude based on this that coconut oil is superior to olive oil for tooth and gum health. I may be wrong, but I will continue pulling with coconut oil for now unless strong evidence presents itself to convince me to stop."
- YouTube comment: "I use apx. x2 tbsp coconut oil, 5 drops peppermint oil and 5 drops oregano oil. I haven't been practicing for very long at all (a matter of weeks, really). I pull for a min. of five minutes before bed and after brushing. I am noticing a difference already. My tender "hurt so good" gingivitis gums that bleed when flossing and interdental brushing, are no more, already."
- YouTube comment: "My gums were swollen I have been oil pulling with coconut oil for 4 days and the swelling is gone!!"
- YouTube comment: "It helps all of my body. It helped me with my painful joints, my skin look young and I am 55 years of age."
- YouTube comment: "Ok Here it goes..after I got my braces installed I noticed that 2 of my teeth have this gross looking greenish like layer near the gumline, this area has been hidden under the gum until my brace pulled it up. I saw this oil pulling 2 months prior but quite hesitant since to swish an oil??ewww. But luckily I did try it due to immense positive feedback after further research. Yesterday when I woke up I can still see this stuff on my two teeth later that day I brush my teeth (Im using Sensodyne white and repair for 5mos now as well) to my surprise after a few minutes of brushing these block of material on my 2 teeth have peeled off on their own. Im trying to find it if I have it in my mouth swirling with bubbles (gross) but I found nothing. These 2 teeth now is about to have a uniform white color to my other teeth without any patches. Im now impressed with oil pulling.my teeth got whiten as well. Im not sure if Sensodyne helps though."
- YouTube comment: "hi!! i'm here to tell y'all that it DID work. just a few days ago i was suffering and searching so many videos about how to relieve tooth ache/pain, since in my country we are in strict quarantine rules and cannot go to the dentist. ... 3 tbps of oil to gargle (i gargled for 10 minutes. ... after the first day, it still hurt a lot. i was debating whether or not to continue- but again, i was desperate so i still did it. finally, on the third day of use—i was shocked that the pain was completely gone. ... i still ate snacks once a day."
- YouTube comment: "I have been using oil pulling for a month and a half. By the time my face, skin became so young. Everything has been fine so far, but not now. :( First, my mouth, sinuses and bladder cleared up, unfortunately, from the 44th day of using this treatment until today the 50th day, itchy pimples appeared on my face and I have stomach sickness. Everyone tells me what happened to me because I look terrible. The kids told me that I am disfigured, what happened to me??? Will it go away? My face was terribly disfigured by these pimples, and I am 51. The last time I had such pimples was when I was a teenager. Will it go away?"
- YouTube comment: "I first tried oil pulling years ago. For a month and 1/2, I did it in the a.m. for 20 minutes with coconut oil, and I've done it on and off since then. I noticed my gums were much healthier, and my teeth looked a little whiter, too."
- YouTube comment: "I do oil pulling every morning. First thing when I wake up with coconut oil for 20 minutes. It has made my teeth and gums so healthy plus, it's help lessen my migraines (I used to get many!) and has pretty much cleared up my acne. It's awesome!"
- YouTube comment: "Usually oil pull for 10-30 minutes with coconut oil. I get my coconut oil from Costco btw. My dentist always raves about my teeth. He's the best dentist in Dallas. He has asked me how my teeth are so white without a whitening treatment and has took up oil pulling as well now!"
- YouTube comment: "I've just started oil pulling one week ago because of my oral health. In one week my gums are healing, tooth sensitivity is lessened, my tongue is clean, breath is fresher, and teeth are brighter and whiter. Even my kids commented on a whiter smile. I've also noticed increased energy, sinuses are clearer, no hormomal pimples along my chin, and decreased cravings."
- YouTube comment: "I had to come back to this video and say that it makes a noticeable difference in tooth coloration. I had been doing this for a few months and when I went to the dentist the hygienist was like, "What do you do to get your teeth so white?!" I told her oil pulling. She was shocked that it worked. Apparently, this has come up in dental classes and they are iffy about its efficacy. She said she had never met someone who had done it and that she was going to start doing it herself!"
- YouTube comment: "i started because of you almost 5 months ago. My asthmatic bronchitis did not flare up not once this winter. And now we are headed into spring and no signs of allergies. This is amazing for me as every yr Im always sick! Normally by now Id be sneezing and puffy eyed but nope!"
- YouTube comment: "Oil pulling cured my eczema! Unfortunately if i skip a day i get a flare up! But if i oil pull for a week my eczema clears up!"
- YouTube comment: "a long time ago you did a video and talked about the oil pulling method and I thought you were crazy YET I was curious enough to research it further (i know I'm crazy too lol) I have now been using this method for almost 9 months or so and use it EVERY DAY. my allergies were so bad that in 1 day I took 9 pills, inhaler, nasal spray &, nebulizer NOT TO MENTION the physical ailments I had. Did you hear me... I said HAD... I saw immediate relief first with sleeping, then taking medications less, 4 months into it my physical ailments stopped and things got better and better and better. Before oil pulling I never ever had a good physical health day..EVER... a mental health day yes b/c through it all I couldn't let my spirit faulter. But if someone is wandering (like me) if you or this is for real YES IT IS? my dentist noticed too. He said I've never heard of it but keep doing what you're doing... btw I use extra virgin coconut oil."
